Martin Luther King Jr.

We Read The Picture Book of Rosa Parks and learned how the African American people refused to ride the bus for an entire year (bus boycott) because of the way they were being treated. We drew a bus and put all of us on the bus together! We also read The Dream and learned about important events in Martin Luther King Jr.'s life. We constructed a time line and drew pictures to illustrate each event. Click on the slide show below to see our timeline. We read Freedom's Child and discussed how everyone is somebody (important) no matter what color they are! The children practiced using details in their drawings. They drew themselves and made sure to include many deatils like clothing, shoes, hairbows, and jewlery. Click on the slideshow below to see our work.
