Turkey Disguises!

Our Home Project for Thanksgiving was to disguise a turkey so we would not eat him.

Native Americans

We used the Scholastic First Thanksgiving Virtual Field trip to learn about the Wompanoag Indian tribe that made friends with the Pilgrims and helped the. We compared the Pilgrims Daily life to the Wompanoags Daily Life. The comparisons included food, houses, clothing, chores, and games.

Then we made TLC Indians and created pattern headbands. We also took a picture in front of our class TEE PEE.

Turkeys

We read Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving and created TLC Turkeys. We wrote what we would eat instead of Turkey.

What Are You Thankful For?

We read Bernstein Bears and the Prize Pumpkin and thought about what we were thankful for. We also read Pilgrims and discussed how the Pilgrim's lives were different from ours. Then we created a pilgrim and wrote what we are thankful for.

Thanksgiving ABC's

We created a Thanksgiving ABC book using words related to Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Graphing

Since we were learning about graphing this week, we tasted different thanksgiving foods and created a graph to show our favorite food.

The First Thanksgiving Project

We learned about the different types of media last week. We created our own computer media project by illustrating and recording sentences in Pixie 2 to tell the story of the first Thanksgiving.

Pattern Block Indians

We created an Indian head and shirt. Then we used real pattern block to practice making our own design for the shirts. Then we used paper pattern blocks that we glued to decorate the Indian's shirt. Last we counted how many of each pattern block we used and wrote it on the recording sheet.

Turkey Disguises

We read Twas the Night before Thanksgiving and created turkey disguises with our families so they would not be eaten on Thanksgiving. They did a great job and thanks to all the family members who helped their children make these so adorable.
