Look Out For Litter!
This week we reviewed some Science topics that we have covered the first 6 weeks of school. During the first few week of school we learned about how to take care of the earth. We discussed how littering is a problem and what we could do to help. I found about this book through an ex-teammate and fellow blogger April Larremore over at Chalk Talk. We read Look Out For Litter where, a little girl is a pirate looking for litter instead of treasure. She talks about what litter does to the earth and animals and what we pirate kids can do to help. After reading the book, we dressed like pirates and went on a hunt for litter around our school.

Earth Day!
We were too busy with Field Day and Egg Drop on Friday to celebrate Earth Day, so we learned about why the Earth is important and how we can help the Earth on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday we read the Important Book and talked about why the Earth is important. The students illustrated and wrote about why the Earth is important. I will post pictures of this soon. On Tuesday, we read books about recycling, reusing and reducing. The students painted an Earth with water colors and then told me what they could do to help keep the earth clean. I typed their sentences and cut apart the words and they built thier sentence on their paper.
