Letter L celebration!

We used books about leaves and did leaf math to celebrate the letter L last week.

When the Leaf Blew in Noun and Verb sort. Then we illustrated and wrote the nouns and verbs to make a sentence.

We read We're Going on a Leaf Hunt and Identified the setting and learned that the setting can change throughout a story.

We read a poem called Down Down Yellow and Brown and painted Fall trees. We learned the sight word the and wrote it in.

We read this book book several days and did some sequencing activities with cards and the students smaller pictures make their own. I guess I forgot to take a picture of them.

Down Down Yellow and Brown

We read the poem Down Down Yellow and Brown and created leaf kids. The students have their own copy of the poem in their poetry folders and circled the rhyming words. We also thought of other words that rhyme with down, brown and town like crown, clown, and  frown.

The Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves

We read the book and found all the rhyming words. Then, to help us re-tell the story, we drew pictures of all the fall things the old lady swallowed. We used the pictures to construct a flow map. The children had a lot of fun using the flow map to re-tell the story to thier friends.
