Sensory Details Snow Globe

We are learning about sensory details in writing, so I incorporated this into our Snow Globe writing.

                                                         I would make snow angels
                                                           I would drink hot chocolate.
I would play with my snowman.
I would put Christmas lights ( on my house)
                                                             I would eat cookies.
I would play with my snowman.

We read The Snow Globe Family and discussed what the family would see, hear, feel, taste, and smell inside the snow globe. Then we created our own snow globe and illustrated and wrote about what we would do inside a snow globe.

The Snowy Day Sensory Details and Writing

We read The Snowy Day and discussed what Peter saw, felt, heard, and smelled on his outing in the snow. Then we created a Snowy Day scene and wrote what we would do with our friend in the deep deep snow.
The students also filled out a sensory detail chart using our discussion as a guide. I forgot to take a picture of this though.

Snowmen At Night

We read Snowmen at Night and discussed with our friends what we think our snowman would do at night. Then we drew a snowman scene on dark blue paper with white crayons. The things kids say and draw are hilarious.  Enjoy!

My snowman is making snow angels at night.
My snowman is playing at the park at night.
My snowman can build a house at night.
My snowman is singing in the snow at night.
My snowman is boxing at night.
My snowman is fighting in the snow at night.

100 Day Delayed Due to Snow Days!

Here is what my street looked like this morning and it snowed a few more inches before it quit.

We were looking forward to the 100th day of school on Wednesday February 2nd, however due to an ice storm on Monday night, sub freezing temperatures, and several inches of snow Thursday night and Friday we missed 4 days of school. We should return to school on Monday February 7th and we will celebrate 100 day on Tuesday February 8th.

Snow Snow Snow!

We read the Snowy Day and constructed a snow day scene. Then, to extend the story, we wrote about what Peter and his friend could have done in the snow. We also used insta snow and made our own snow and got to play with it. The children got to see the snow grow and had a great time having fun while still keeping warm inside.
