Texas Symbols Mural

Last week we learned about Texas State Symbols. We read some books and used the Internet as a resource to learn about the Texas State Symbols. We made our own representations of the symbols through various art projects and put them together to create a Texas Symbol Mural.

Texas Fairy Tales

We read Bubba and the Cowboy Prince and created a Venn Diagram to compare it to Cinderella.
We also wrote about our favorite part.

We also read The Three Little Javelinas and made a double bubble map to compare the story to The Thee Little Pigs

The Gingerbread Cowboy was our favorite! We made our own gingerbread cowboy's and sequence the events in the story to create a flow map.

We also read Armadilly Chili and compared it to The Little Red Hen. We ate chili and made a graph so show if we liked it or not.

Simbolos de Texas

The students created Texas symbols in my partner teacher's class. I had them label the symbols in Spanish and put them on our Social Studies content board in my room. During Bilingual Centers the students use the board to illustrate and label Texas Symbols as a review of our Texas unit.

Then we created a Gingerbread Bite Graph. Which part of the cookie did you bite first?

We read Chicks and Salsa and tasted salsa, ranch, and queso. Then we created a graph to show our favorite dip. What dip do you like the best?
