To help teach the kids about pets and their needs, I brought my son's bearded dragon to school. I showed and told the kids what kind of habitat the lizard needed and why. We discussed how he needs to stay warm and needs artificial sunlight to help him absorb calcium so he can stay healthy. I asked the kids what they thought he ate and they did a good job with their guesses. They said bugs, vegetables, and worms and they were almost exactly right. I showed the kids how to feed him worms and crickets covered in calcium vitamin powder. They really loved watching the bearded dragon eat. Then we let all the kids have a turn to pet the lizard if they wanted.
