In honor of the letter U, we had an umbrella day. The students brought their umbrellas to school and we read under them with our 2nd grade reading buddies. We also used them in math to sort, measure and order them from smallest to largest. We sorted our umbrellas by color, size, patterns, buttons, and type of handles. We used cubes to measure the length of our umbrellas, then we counted how many cubes and wrote the number on a sticky note. Then we ordered our umbrellas using the numbers. Finally, we made graph if we brought an umbrella to school or not. 12 students brought and umbrella and 7 did not.
