During our Fairy Tale unit we read the Elves and the Shoemaker. We reviewed sorting and learned how to identify the sorting rule. First, I sorted the kid's shoes several different ways and asked them to tell me what sorting rule they thought I used each time. For more practice I gave each table pictures of different kinds of shoes and they worked as a group to sort them. I came around to each table and I had to tell them what their sorting rule was. Then, I had them move to the other tables and tell what sorting rule their friends used. They had a great time trying to trick me and their friends. Can you tell what sorting rule they used?
