We have been learning about living things and non living things and how to tell if something is living. We learned the 7 characteristics of living things. 1. move 2. breathe 3. grow 4. have babies or offspring 5. excrete( use the bathroom) 6. adapt to its environment and 7. eat. I gave the kids pre-cut pictures out of magazines of living and non living things and they sorted the pictures and created their own circle maps of living and non living things. We also made a class book about living things called Is It Alive? The students chose a living thing to draw and write why it was living based on the 7 characteristics that we learned about.
