Weight

To begin our unit on weight we learned how to use a balance scale to determine a classroom object was heavier or lighter than another classroom object. We also used bear and frog manipulatives to measure the weight of the objects. The bears and the frogs come in three different sizes so they are good to use for more critical thinking to and get a more exact weight. For instance, if the students were using only large bear or frog counters and 1 more counter made the scale uneven one way or the other the students figured out that they could use a medium or small counter to even it out.

  1. Love it when kids learn by "trial and error." They really get to think! Renee
