To get the children excited about the 100th day, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and brainstormed 100 things he could eat. Then we constructed a caterpillar with 100 body parts. The students cut circles and made a pattern. Finally, we counted by 10's and labeled every 10th body part. The kids loved this big caterpillar and were able to have a visual to go along with counting to 100 other than the 100 chart we use to count at calendar.
This is so cute. One year we did 100 monkeys in a basket and one hundred dot on a ladybug. They were so cute. I love the caterpillar idea!
