We read the poem Way Up High in the Apple Tree. We changed the number of apples and re-read the poem several times while the students counted the correct amount of apples(red pom poms)and put them on thier apple tree. After practicing counting several times, they were given a number tile and wrote down thier number and thier name to complete the following sentence frame: Way up high in the apple tree _____ apples smiled down on _____________. Then they painted the correct number of apples in the tree.
